This site has a lot more info!!!
The Summer of 2004, when the Democratic National Convention was held in Boston and the Republican Convention in New York, a group of radical college students at Evergreen State University in Washington, organized a 258 mile, 28 day long march from the DNC to the RNC. People from all over the world joined the march with their banners, slogans and determination. The march was called Democracy Uprising, but was fondly referred to as the DNC2RNC.
In 2008, hundreds of cyclists will gear up for a two week ride in a mobile village of resistance from Madison, where the PNC is being held, to St. Paul for the RNC protests. We are seeking riders who are self-sufficient and able to ride about 35 miles/day. Organizers will make sure we have a place to camp each night along the way, but riders must bring their own gear, sleeping bags, tents, etc. There will be a communal food bus and medic vehicle that follow the ride, but otherwise, there will be no support vehicles.
A Zine is midst of being put together right now! To receive a zine and more information, to indicate you'd like to help organize, or if you belong to a community group that wants to help host the bikers somewhere along the way, email us: PNC2RNC at gmail.com We'd also like to speak to your organizations or groups that want to participate!
*Next organizing meeting: Dec. 10th 5pm Escape Coffeehouse
